About Joel
Joel has 25 years’ ICT research and strategy experience. Prior to FERNFUTURES, Joel was Senior Director – Strategy & Market Intelligence at GlobalData Technology, a leading provider of ICT consultancy and research. Joel managed a team 29 analysts and consultants, covering MEA, North America, LATAM, Europe and APAC.
His product portfolio responsibility encompassed ICT market opportunity forecasts, analytical company, country and product reports, and consulting. Prior to his Senior Director role, Joel was Director of Africa and Middle East research and consulting.
Prior to GlobalData Joel worked for seven years at Orange at the group level in a variety of strategy and strategic marketing roles. These roles covered the fixed, mobile and converged sectors, and on a geographic basis Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In particular, Joel led the development and implementation (via M&A, organic means and partnerships) of Orange’s group-wide fixed-mobile convergence strategy.
The projects he worked on at Orange spanned both the enterprise and consumer sectors. Prior to Orange Joel worked for several telecoms research and consulting companies, including GlobalData as a Senior Analyst covering Western Europe and BRC Consultancy, a specialist consultancy focused on data networking and mobile telephony.
Joel holds a BA Hons degree in History from the University of Warwick and an MBA with distinction from Warwick Business School.
