About Jorge
Jorge Bravo is a leading expert in telecommunications, digital policy, and media systems in Latin America. He holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences with a focus on Communication from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he is also a professor at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences and at the Open University and Distance Education Coordination (CUAED).
Since 2011, Jorge has served as Executive Editorial Vice President at DPL Group, a prominent consultancy and content platform specialized in the digital ecosystem, telecom, and broadcasting. He is currently President of the Mexican Association for the Right to Information (AMEDI) and a widely respected columnist for El Economista and Proceso magazine. He was also General Coordinator of Social Communication at the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) during the interim presidency of Adriana Labardini.
Jorge has held academic roles at institutions such as the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (Sorbonne Universités), the Liceo Franco-Mexicano, Infotec (Conacyt), the Legal Research Institute of UNAM, and the Autonomous Metropolitan University. He has also led training programs for the Mexican Senate and Ministry of Finance.
He is the author of El presidente mediático: Medios y poder durante el gobierno de Vicente Fox (Gernika–UNAM, 2011), and editor of three books on Artificial Intelligence published by Fundap, exploring its impact on law, politics, economics, and public administration.
Jorge has served as President of the Citizen Council of the Mexican Radio Institute, Advisor to UNESCO on media development indicators, and Research Secretary of the Mexican Association of Communication Researchers (AMIC). He currently sits on the Editorial Board of Reforma’s Gente section (since 2025).
He specializes in telecom regulation, digital technologies, media structure, journalism, political communication, and the political economy of communication.
